Zack Snyder Considered Christian Bale for Batman v Superman Role
With a new Batman headed to the big screen, its important for people to know that this new universe is set far apart from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. While Ben Affleck's casting went a long way to ensuring that, director Zack Snyder considered another approach to set it well and truly in stone.
Speaking with FilmInk, Snyder said that "We did talk about that briefly. I just wanted to hire Christian [Bale] to play another part to make that obvious [that this was a different universe]. Christian could play, like, Alfred with age makeup. No! Of course not. But you know what I mean. Even people at the studio would say, 'Who are you getting from the other movies?' And I was like, 'Hey, come on guys, let's all understand, it's a different world.'"
Ultimately, they opted against it, which is smart, considering Bale would have garnered probably unwanted attention when Warner Bros. would have wanted focus to squarely remain on the universe-launching film, and not the trivial parts within it.
