'Zootopia' Heading toward Record-Breaking $100M in China
Ten days since its release in China, Disney's Zootopia will cross the $100 million mark. As of today, it has grossed $89 million, with a follow-up weekend that has seen a huge boost compared to its opening.
The film has become the biggest ever Disney film in their market, sweeping Big Hero 6 aside easily with its previous record of $83.5 million. It will also go a long way to taking the crown from Kung Fu Panda 3 (which has so far roughly $152 million) as the top animated title of all time.
The film is directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, and tells the story of a bunny cop and a con artist fox that attempts to uncover a conspiracy.
