“Captain Marvel” sequel in development with an expected 2022 release
Marvel is moving full steam ahead on the sequel to 2018’s billion-dollar grossing spectacle.
Megan McDonnell, writer on Marvel’s upcoming series WandaVision, is in final negotiations to pen the script with a director - yet to be named - expected to follow suit.
This all but confirms that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will not be returning in writing or directing capacity. Additionally sources say that Marvel is hoping to find a female filmmaker to helm the sequel that will reportedly shift timelines from the mid-1990s to the present day.
Of course, neither Disney nor Marvel confirmed this wonderful news however, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Captain Marvel is just one of a trio of planned Phase IV sequels including Black Panther 2 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
