8. What We Do in the Shadows
"Yeah some of our clothes are from victims. You might bite someone and then, you think, 'Oooh, those are some nice pants!'" — Viago
This New Zealand comedy found fame at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and has since become a sleeper hit of this year. Co-directed by Taika Waititi and Flight of the Conchordsʼ Jemaine Clement (who stars in the movie), What We Do in the Shadows is a wildly imaginative found-footage mockumentary comedy about three vampire housemates and the complexities of modern day life. Upon watching it the first time around, youʼll get the sense youʼve stumbled across something incredibly sacred — so hold on to it. Once you've allowed them them to bite you in the neck it's unlikely they'll let go and that's the beauty of this film.
