'American Sniper' Writer Will Direct Former Spielberg Project
'American Sniper' writer Jason Hall will make his directorial debut on 'Thank You For Your Service,' a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) drama by DreamWorks. Hall is replacing Steven Spielberg in the directors chair who was originally looking to direct.
Based on David Finkel‘s 2014 book of the same title, Thank You For Your Service has been in development for a few years already. DreamWorks bought the rights to the book and hired Hall to write the script. Spielberg was considering directing, with Daniel Day-Lewis possibly starring. However, after reading he script, Spielberg suggested Hall should direct the movie.
