'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Earns $44.8 Million in First Two Days Overseas
The Avengers sequel, Age of Ultron, has dominated the international market in its first two days of release, earning $44.8 million across 26 territories.
The United Kingdom led the way with $5.4 million on the first day taking a huge 84% share of the market, followed by South Korea with $4.9 million. The other leading territories included; France which saw $4.4 million in two days, followed by Russia with $3.7 million, Brazil and Australia both with $3.4 million each, and the Philippines with $2.8 million, and Taiwan with $2.6 million, both after two days.
For the United Kingdom, it's 84% market share is 40% higher than the previous Avengers movie, and the largest Thursday release in the UK. The total amassed at the Korean box office topped all previous numbers and took a massive 96% share of the market. Age of Ultron was 173% higher than the first Avengers, and 54% above Iron Man.
Age of Ultron also marked the best opening day in Brazil for a Disney/Marvel movie, and in Australia, it scored the second best opening day for a Disney/Marvel film, behind only the Avengers.
Over the weekend, Avengers: Age of Ultron will open to 55% of its international markets.
