Could Angelina Jolie Be Directing 'Captain Marvel?'
This is a rumour with nothing being confirmed from any one at Disney or Marvel— but word has it, Marvel are about to offer Angelina Jolie the directing job for their upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
LiveforFilms.com first broke the news on this possible directing hire. When Marvel's Phase Three of their cinematic universe was first unveiled, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige went on record as saying they are actively seeking a female director for the movie. People at Marvel and Disney where so impressed with Jolie's Unbroken, that they could well be on the verge of offering her $20 million to direct Captain Marvel.
“Having a female director is a priority for them,” explains the source. “She never thought she’d be in such huge demand as a director, and to be courted by Marvel after the Sony fiasco is a huge pat on the back.”
update: jolie under consideration
Reports are suggesting Jolie is “definitely under consideration” for the Captain Marvel job. She was also a possibility for the Wonder Woman job after Michelle MacLaren jumped ship, but that job has gone to Patty Jenkins. Keep in mind that neither studio has confirmed anything at this point, so Jolie’s potential involvement should be treated as rumour, not fact.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to be released on the 6th July 2016.
