Disney's Bob Iger Isn't Afraid of DC Comics Competition
In the past few years, Marvel have seemingly had their way with the box office, releasing hit after hit and raking in a ton of money. However, that may change in the coming twelve months as DC Comics get set to roll-out their upcoming slate of movies starting with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, then Suicide Squad.
Disney chief Bob Iger isn't afraid of DC's potential at the box office, and he isn't too bothered about the increased competition, either. He told journalists at the Allen & Co media conference in Sun Valley that, "We’re Marvel. We’ve done a great job of building the Marvel brand, which we think when it’s on a movie really makes a difference. We’re seeing signs of that. We like the Marvel slate that we have coming up. We think they’re unique in many ways and have no concerns about competition whatsoever."
Marvel have built up a fairly strong legiance of fans who flock to their latest releases every year. On the other hand, competition in any world of business is always healthy. Saying Marvel aren't concerned about competition may be somewhat of an understatement. Of course they'll be keeping a close eye on whats happening around them, but for the time being, Marvel are the standard bearers for superhero movies.
