Jennifer Jason Leigh joins Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight’
Speculation is running rift regarding who's getting cast in Quentin Tarantino's new movie, The Hateful Eight, and now we now may have our first official cast member.
The first piece of casting has gone to Jennifer Jason Leigh. She’ll play Daisy Domergue, a woman wanted for murder who begins the film in the clutches of a bounty hunter. The news of this casting was reported by The Wrap, and it is suggested that Bruce Dern is set to be announced soon, too.
It is expected that Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell will saddle up alongside QT in his second Western flick, but they have yet to be officially revealed. Alongside them, it's been rumoured Michael Madsen, Tim Roth and Walter Goggins will have parts in The Hateful Eight as well. These potential castings steam from them all having parts during the live read Tarantino conducted in Los Angeles earlier this year. Nothing, as of yet, has suggested they are locked in, but reports are suggesting it's almost a done deal regarding all three.
Set in Wyoming during a tough winter after the Civil War, The Hateful Eight begins in a stagecoach carrying a sheriff, two bounty hunters and the prisoner to be played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. Those four, along with the coach driver, hole up in a haberdashery to wait out a blizzard. Theretensions quickly rise until things get well out of hand. None of the characters are heroes — there’s a reason this one is called The Hateful Eight.
The Weinstein Company is financing The Hateful Eight with shooting expected to commence in Colorado this December. Filmed in 70mm, a Christmas 2015 release is planned for Tarantino’s new Western.
