J.K. Simmons joins Kong: Skull Island
This past week, Legendary Pictures announced that their upcoming film, Kong: Skull Island, had been moved from its originally planned November 2016 release date to a Spring 2017 date. Now, Legendary have announced J.K. Simmons has joined the cast.
Deadline announced that J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) has signed up for the upcoming movie. Simmons, who is familiar with the big budget blockbuster, starred in the first set of Spider-Man movies as as J. Jonah Jameson, and will also star in the upcoming Terminator: Genisys next year.
Simmons joins Tom Hiddleston in the cast with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) directing the movie, which has been written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla).
An official synopsis for the movie has yet to be released, but Legendary say that previous King Kong movies have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions.
Kong: Skull Island will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 10th March 2017.
