Legendary Pictures eye Joe Cornish to direct King Kong prequel Skull Island
It was only yesterday that we brought you the news that Legendary Pictures will be making a King Kong prequel, titled Skull Island. Now there seems to be more development regarding this upcoming movie.
It's being reported by Deadline that Legendary have officially offered directing duties to Joe Cornish, who is most notable for directing 2011's Attack the Block and writing The Adventures of Tintin, which Steven Spielberg directed.
Recently, Cornish has rejected countless offers to direct big budget movies, but it is too early to tell whether this project will be something he may or may not consider.
Deadline also reported this new King Kong film will be written by Max Borenstein, who wrote the screenplay for another Legendary release earlier this year, Godzilla. This prequel to King Kong will focus on the origins of the character on the titular island that time forgot.
Skull Island will be released in theatres on the 4th November 2016.
