Luc Besson Developing 'Lucy 2' and 'Colombiana 2'
Lic Besson’s EuropaCorp is attempting to development their female-led movies 'Lucy' and 'Colombiana' into franchises.
According to The Playlist, the extensive roster of upcoming EuropaCorp productions includes Lucy 2 and Colombiana 2 as being “In Development.” It is surprising that a 'Lucy' sequel is in the works after Besson said last summer, "I don’t see how we can do [a sequel]. It’s not made for that. If I find something good enough, maybe I will, but for now I don’t even think about it."
Lucy grossed an astounding $458 million on a $40 million budget — so a sequel is understandable given that profit margin. However, Colombiana is another story. It only managed a $60 million worldwide gross from a $40 million budget, and may of only just squeezed out a profit from its home video release.
