New 'Indiana Jones' Movie Confirmed by Lucasfilm President
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that a new Indiana Jones movie is in the works.
Kennedy was interviewed by Vanity Fair recently, and Kennedy spoke about Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm. She mentioned, for better or worse, the properties that Disney bought which included: Willow and Radioland Murders. She went on to say that one of the biggest prizes of the purchase was the Indiana Jones franchise. "Another Indiana Jones movie will one day be made inside this company," Kennedy said. "When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it."
Disney CEO Bob Iger told the press in late 2014 that “we’d love to make another Indiana Jones movie but we’re pacing ourselves right now." This statement lead to many rumours floating round that Steven Spielberg was interested in the project if the script was right, and Chris Pratt was inline to take over the role of Indy. But, as expected, nothing came of these rumours, and they remained just that... rumours.
Kennedy's comments don't reveal too much in terms of Disney and Lucasfilm's plans with the franchise, but it is the closest we've come to getting a guaranteed confirmation that a fifth Indiana Jones is moving forward.
