Pacific Rim 2 set for a April 2017 release
Earlier this month, Guillermo del Toro teased that he was in the process of writing the sequel to Pacific Rim with screenwriter Zak Penn.
Universal Studios and Legendary Pictures have now announced that the second movie is indeed on it's way and has been given the green light to begin pre-production, with it scheduled to debut in 3D and iMAX theatres on the 7th April 2017.
Guillermo del Toro said in a statement; "The characters I love will return. Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau– but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display amazing sights and battles. The first film set the stage and now we’re ready to have a blast."
