Robert Zemeckis Rules Out Any 'Back to the Future' Remake... Ever!
Whilst partaking in press for his upcoming release, The Walk, Robert Zemeckis has unequivocally shot down any chance of a Back to the Future remake ever happening.
The Telegraph were interviewing the director when the question was asked. "Oh, God no. That can't happen until both Bob and I are dead," Zemeckis answered. "I'm sure they'll do it, unless there's a way our estates can stop it. I mean, to me, it's outrageous. especially since it's a good movie. It's like saying 'Lets remake Citizen Kane.' Who are we going to get to play Kane? What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?"
According to their original contract with Universal and Amblin, which they signed in 1984, Zemeckis and co-creator Bob Gale, have total control over Back to the Future until their deaths.
