Ron Howard's Beatles Documentary to Launch Sales at Cannes Film Festival
White House Pictures and Studiocanal will launch the international sales branch of this years Cannes Film Festival with Ron Howard's authorised Beatles documentary.
The feature length documentary will show unseen footage and early performances — some of which will be shown during the sales pitch — exploring the touring years of the Liverpool quartet.
The currently untitled movie was announced last July and is being produced in full co-operation with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. The sound from concert footage will be restored by music producer, Giles Martin, son of long-time Beatles collaborator George Martin.
Nigel Sinclair from White House Pictures is producing the movie. He said, "Ron is providing an all-access backstage VIP pass to The Beatles, giving fans fascinating insights on the band, and the ability to experience what it was like on the inside."
Howard's movie will feature footage from performances at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, engagements in Hamburg and their final public concert in Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 1966.
