Tarantino confirms The Hateful Eight will be his next movie and hints at a possible sci-fi film
No one has had any sort of clear indication as to whether Quentin Tarantino would actually go ahead with making The Hateful Eight after the script was leaked online, but now it has been confirmed by the man himself at Comic-Con 2014.
Just over a week ago, Kurt Russell gave the strongest indication that The Hateful Eight could be made, after he mentioned in an interview that it was slated to be his next project. But nothing from the Tarantino camp confirmed the story, that was until this weekend.
Tarantino was speaking at a panel discussion during the festivities in San Diego for his upcoming Django/Zorro crossover comic, when an audience member asked him if his next movie was to be The Hateful Eight. He confirmed that the project is back on and it is expected to be his next movie. Rumours have been circulating that Tarantino has worked back in to the script changing many aspects, as well as a possible shoot date being late 2014 or early 2015. That has yet to be confirmed, but news on that is to be expected soon.
Another question that was thrown at Tarantino during this panel discussion was if he would ever consider making a sci-fi movie. Here is what QT said;
"If you had asked me a few years ago I would have said; 'Nah, not really, I don’t know.' But I have a little idea right now. It’s a little flower, you know, like a bean sprout, but those tend to grow into stalks. So this is the first time I’ll be able to say 'maybe.' It won’t be a spaceship sci-fi, it’ll be Earthbound."
Interesting to hear Tarantino is attracted to making such a movie. Who knows what that little flower of an idea is, but the thought of QT crossing over into that genre is incredibly intriguing.
