'The Revenant' Wins Top Feature-Film Award at Cinema Audio Society Awards
The Revenant won out at the Cinema Audio Society Awards (CAS) on Saturday night against a very strong list on nominees.
The Oscar favourite was up against Bridge of Spies, The Hateful Eight, Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Only The Hateful Eight doesn't hold an Oscar nomination for Best Sound, so this CAS award is a good indication of what we may see at the Academy Awards next Sunday. In the last 22 years, the winner of the CAS award has gone on to win the Oscar 12 times. Whiplash won the Best Sound Oscar last year but wasn't even nominated by CAS.
Inisde Out won the award in the animated category while the television awards went to Fargo, Modern Family and Game of Thrones.
The CAS Career Achievement Award went to ADR mixer Doc Kane, with the CAS Filmmaker Award heading to director Jay Roach.
