The Shortlist
Casting is underway for DC's Green Lantern Corps. There are six actors on the list that are being considered for the role of Hal Jordan. The first name on this list might surprise you. Ryan Reynolds himself, is one of the actors that is being talked about to helm the role that nearly cost him his career. With Reynolds highly unlikely to accept the role if it was offered to him, I wonder if he should be given another chance? Ryan was born to play Deadpool, that is no lie. But the Green Lantern movie that we all pretend didn't happen wasn't all Ryan's fault. I honestly hope that he doesn't take the role and he focuses on Deadpool. But what about the other five contenders? Please note that this is all rumour at this stage, so take it with a grain of salt.
Tom Cruise
To top the list we have Tom Cruise. Tom was cast as Tony Stark when the first Iron Man began casting its first hit. It's hard to picture anyone else other than Robert Downey Jr in that role. Would Tom move to DC after Marvel's departure?
Bradley Cooper
We all know Bradley Cooper from his wonderful voice work as the angry, machine gun welding Rocket Raccoon. Working for both Marvel and DC at the same time would be a first for a comic book actor. But Bradley honestly wouldn't be all too terrible in this role.
Jake Gyllenhall
Jake almost was in one of the biggest comic book movie's of 2004. Spiderman 2. Tobey Maguire seriously injured his back during production. Jake was cast and even went so far as to train for the role.
Armie Hammer
Armie Hammer is best known for playing the Lone Ranger and opposite Henry Cavil in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. He was cast as Batman in the 2007 canceled Justice League movie, directed by George Miller. He is the fan favorite and my personal favorite to helm this role.
Joel McHale
Finally we have a wildcard in the mix. Joel McHale is best known for his work on Community and the E network show the Soup. While he might visually look the part, I am unsure that we would have the acting chops to lead the interstellar police agents against the forces of evil in a tentpole franchise film.
