Warner Bros. announce huge ensemble cast for 'Suicide Squad'
Warner Bros. have revealed the cast for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, and it's huge! There isn't any surprise names in the list given all the rumours we've heard, but it certainly is a cast of riches.
The Oscar winning Jared Leto, as expected, will play the Joker, with Will Smith as Deadshot, and Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg. Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn, which was heavily rumoured, alongside Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Cara Delevinge is Enchantress.
Warner Bros. President Greg Silverman said about the cast, "The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero."
According to Variety, Jesse Eisenberg is expected to play Lex Luthor in this movie and they’re still casting Amanda Waller, who's a kind of Nick Fury type leader of the Squad. It's being reported Oprah Winfrey is top of Warner Bros. wish list to play that part... wouldn't that would be some coup?
While this confirmation of cast doesn't surprise regarding the amount of rumours in the past weeks, it does however, show that Warner Bros. are going all out on Suicide Squad. They see this film as their superhero version of Ocean’s Eleven and have done their best to fill it with a cast somewhat similar to that film.
Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer and is scheduled for 5th August 2016 release.
