Warner Bros. keen on Jesse Eisenberg to reprise role of Lex Luther in 'Suicide Squad' movie
Warner Bros. is apparently planning to add Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor to its Suicide Squad ensemble cast, to connect it to other Warner Bros. franchises.
Deadline broke the news regarding this intriguing casting rumour. Although Lex Luthor is not a traditional mainstay of the Suicide Squad series, the Deadline report claims that Warner Bros. feel they may need to bring Luthor into the fold, to help blend this new property with its more established franchises.
Eisenberg isn't the only big name being attached to the Suicide Squad movie. Warner Bros. also feel they need to add star power to this movie to compete with rival studio Marvel and their The Avengers franchise along with the other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's thought Warner Bros. are in discussions with the likes of Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy for roles in Suicide Squad.
It has also been rumoured that Cara Delavigne is in line to join the cast, with the model-turned-actress linked to the role of Harley Quinn.
Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch) and is currently scheduled to open in 2016, with an exact release date yet to be confirmed.
