‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2′ Story Treatment Is Complete
James Gunn has announced the story treatment for the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie is complete.
After the pitching the initial movie idea, Gunn submitted his treatment, and has a follow-up meeting about it this week and will begin writing the actual screenplay in a matter of days.
“I turned in my treatment. I’m going in to meet about it Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week,” Gunn explained yesterday using the Periscope social media broadcasting app, later adding during the video that the script is “very, very far along.”Apparently 70 pages along.
Gunn also revealed that his script for 'The Belco Experiment' was recently picked up by MGM and will begin filming in June. After writing and directing Guardians of the Galaxy to critical and financial success last year, Gunn has more creative freedom than any other Marvel director, and is using his privileged position to get far more original ideas and slightly deviating from Marvel Comics stories for the sequel – that's according to Gunn himself. It's being said that Gunn has also been bouncing ideas off top executives and producers within Marvel such as, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Jonathan Schwartz, and Victoria Alonso.
It'll be interesting to see what Gunn has created for the second Guardians movie with reports suggesting that we'll meet Star Lord's father, we may see Al Pacino in the movie as Gunn says he'd love to work with him, and the movie will show that the heroes are “worse than you think.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is scheduled for a 5th May 2017 release.
